Kenvie Guest House,
situated in a quiet residential area, about 1 mile (1.5km) from the City centre
and the Old Town, and takes about 10 minutes by bus (excellent service) and
about 20 minutes to walk. The bus stop is just a short block away. The commercial
area starts about 3 blocks from here. The City, dominated by 'The Royal Mile',
the historic High Street running from Edinburgh Castle at the top to Holyrood
Palace and the new Scottish Parliament at the bottom. Also on this lovely street
are the Camera Obscura, St Giles Cathedral, John Knox House, Museum of
Childhood, Edinburgh Museum and The People's Story. Lady Stair's House - the
writers museum (a museum dedicated to Sir Walter Scott, Robert Burns and R.L.
Stevenson) and much more. The famous Princes Street has on one side shops,
restaurants and cafes; on the other, beautiful gardens containing the Floral Clock and
Sir Walter Scott's Monument (209ft. high, with 287 steps, which can be climbed
to give panoramic views over the city to the Forth Bridges and Fife in the
North, and over the scenic Border country to the
South).
Craigmillar Castle and the Royal Infirmary are also nearby. Leith and the Royal
Yacht Britannia are a short distance away.
For your further
comfort the house is non-smoking. Car parking is trouble-free and plentiful with
unrestricted street parking. There are no charges for parking.
